Mother Nature just can’t make up her mind these days! Clear nights and low temperatures are the perfect recipe for creating frost across the fairways. When this happens, the inevitable tee time delay occurs! Unfortunately, we must wait for the temperature to rise before letting the golfers AND the maintenance crew onto the golf course.
The reasoning behind this is that the water molecules within the grass blades are frozen. If we were to step on them, we’d crack the blade, thus killing it. In a few days time, prints of dead grass could be seen along the route the unsuspecting golfer traveled.
Please be patient with us during the winter months when the thermometer drops. Unless it is a severe freeze, the golf course opens around 9 o’clock. Check here for updates OR call the golf shop! (843) 851-1193 ext 100
